Responding to COVID-19
To date, Whitko Community Schools has taken many proactive steps to ensure continuing education while remaining within the guidelines issued by the Indiana State Governor Eric Holcomb as well as the Indiana Department of Health and local health officials. In the spring of 2020, WCS along with the rest of the global community, quickly realized our response to the pandemic would require our best efforts. Within 3 days, the WCS formed a response team, began providing meals and delivering them for free across the community, and teachers began swiftly giving classroom instruction virtually using distance learning.
At the present we continue to honor our commitment to Whitko families: to help every student feel safe, important and smart. As we prepare to return to our school campus on August 13th, we realize some families may not be fully ready to send their children back to school. For them, a virtual option is also available upon request. We ask all families considering our distance learning to please notify school principals by August 3rd. To learn more about this plan, please read our 2020-21 distance learning plan.
Whitko Community Schools will begin their first week of classes for the 2020-21 school year on August 13th. This year will look different for our Wildcats and it's important to recognize that reality, but it is also important to recognize the belief we have in our students, staff, and community to come together during challenging times. Thanks for being a Wildcat!
